Sunday is National Pray for the Perscuted Church. To celebrate it, at intervarsity tonight we spent the time praying for different countries, their oppressor and thinking about what it would mean to be persecuted and would we really risk all for God. Some of these people go through the most crazy and sick tortures because they refuse to denounce Jesus.

What I wonder is what their persecutors are so afraid of. Why must they root out Christianity? Why do they find it such a crime to have Christians in the country?we learned in psychology about group think and obedience. Basically if somebody that looks in authority tells us to do something we will do it unquestioned. That is how the Nazis managed to do such sick things to all of those people. So are the persecutors just following orders?

My friend Rachel had a friend from middle school go missing and she just learned that he is dead. He went to meet somebody off of the Internet and they murdered him. She said he was the type of person who always ate alone and didn’t have friends. It saddens me to think that he may have been going to meet someone out of loneliness.

Rachel approached me tonight and asked if I would pray with her. I really have never had anyone ask me in person to do that before. It is kind of a cool feeling but sad because of the circumstances.

Oh my goodness! I’m praying for Rachel and the family of this friend! That makes my heart very heavy.

So what are your thoughts?
